One of the most frequently asked questions we receive at Accu Tint is about window cleaning. While your tinted windows should require no more maintenance than normal glass, there are some considerations to remember when cleaning your windows. Tinting film does respond to certain cleaning solutions differently than normal glass. Today, we’ll discuss how to clean your tinted windows.

Tinting film is only applied to the interior side of your car windows. This means you can clean the outside of your windows however you like. We recommend using a high-quality glass cleaner to give your windows the best streak-free shine. However, a mixture of vinegar and water often works to rid your windows of unwanted dirt and grime.

The interior of the windows will require some specialized care. We recommend using water and a microfiber cloth to wipe any buildup of fingerprints or puppy nose prints off of the tinting film. We do not recommend using a window cleaning solution, as many of them have ammonia as a key cleaning agent. Ammonia can weaken the tinting film and may even turn it purple over time. If you feel that you need the extra cleaning power of a window cleaning solution, look for one without ammonia. Otherwise, you risk damaging your tinting film.

Be careful not to use abrasive materials on the inside of your windows. Our tinting film is durable, but it can be scratched with excessive scrubbing. If you have questions regarding the cleaning and maintenance of your tinted windows, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Our experienced staff will be able answer all your car window tinting questions.
